Gena Evans, born on December 14, 1960, and a proud native of Henderson, Kentucky, has followed an unconventional path into the world of art.
As a self-taught artist, creativity has always been an intrinsic part of her life, with a sketchpad and pencil as her constant companions as a child.
After high school, life put her artistic pursuits on hold for many years as she focused on working and raising a family, leaving little time for art.
It wasn’t until she retired and moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, in 2022 that she could reconnect and fully embrace her passion for drawing and painting. The vibrant art community in St. Petersburg, along with the inspiration from her 83-year-old mother, who is a lifelong artist and continues to create with love and dedication, crafting everything from jewelry and glass art to crocheting, sewing, and more. Her mother’s enduring creativity reignited Gena’s artistic spark, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter as an mixed media artist. Now, she finds immense joy in exploring and expressing herself through her art.
